Upon arrival at Baltra Island, our team will welcome you and accompany you across the Itabaca Channel to Santa Cruz. From there, we journey into the lush Highlands, a dramatic contrast to the arid coasts. Towering Scalesia forests and lava tunnels create an otherworldly setting. Here, we'll encounter the iconic Galápagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat—an awe-inspiring introduction to the archipelago's ancient residents. Keep an eye out for woodpecker finches, Vermilion flycatchers, and Galápagos rails, often heard but rarely seen. After dinner, we'll gather for a welcoming orientation and preview the adventures ahead in tomorrow's expedition briefing.
